Brief About the Department (Nature of Work)

The District Public Relations Office (DPRO) is an important department of the State Government responsible for disseminating information regarding government policies, schemes, programmes, and developmental initiatives to the general public in an effective, transparent, and timely manner. The department serves as a vital communication bridge between the Government and the citizens, promoting public awareness and ensuring wide publicity of various welfare schemes and developmental activities.

The department utilizes print media, electronic media, digital media, social media, and traditional communication channels to publicize government initiatives, achievements, and development programmes. It also plays a significant role in creating awareness among citizens about various government services, welfare schemes, and public benefit programmes implemented by different departments.

Major Functions of the Department

  • Preparation and dissemination of press releases relating to Government policies, schemes, programmes, and important decisions.
  • Publication and broadcasting of government advertisements through newspapers, magazines, radio, television, digital platforms, and social media.
  • Organization of cultural programmes, folk performances, song and drama shows, and public awareness campaigns for effective outreach.
  • Publicity and participation in district, state, and national-level fairs, exhibitions, and special events.
  • Designing, printing, and distribution of publicity materials such as flex hoardings, banners, posters, pamphlets, brochures, and other IEC materials.
  • Public awareness campaigns through publicity vehicles in urban, rural, and remote areas of the district.
  • Publicity and media coordination for National Festivals, State Functions, Government campaigns, and special occasions.
  • Coordination with media representatives to ensure accurate and timely dissemination of government information.
  • Documentation and publicity of developmental activities, welfare programmes, and achievements of various Government departments.
  • Planning and implementation of Information, Education and Communication (IEC) activities to enhance public awareness.
  • Ensuring effective communication of Government achievements, citizen-centric initiatives, and public welfare programmes.

Objective of the Department

The primary objective of the District Public Relations Office is to provide authentic, accurate, and updated information regarding Government policies, programmes, schemes, and achievements to every citizen. The department strives to strengthen public awareness, encourage citizen participation, and establish an effective, transparent, and responsive communication system between the Government and the public.
