About NSAP
The National Social Assistance Programme was launched on 15 August 1995 to provide financial assistance to eligible persons living below the poverty line (BPL). It supports senior citizens, widows, persons with disabilities, and bereaved families through direct social assistance.
Major Schemes under NSAP
- Indira Gandhi National Old Age Pension Scheme (IGNOAPS) – Pension for eligible senior citizens.
- Indira Gandhi National Widow Pension Scheme (IGNWPS) – Pension for eligible widows.
- Indira Gandhi National Disability Pension Scheme (IGNDPS) – Pension for eligible persons with severe disabilities.
- National Family Benefit Scheme (NFBS) – One-time financial assistance to families after the death of the primary breadwinner.
- Annapurna Scheme – Food security support for eligible elderly persons not covered under the old-age pension scheme.
