Bhairavi Jalashay

The Bhairavi Dam was constructed in the 1960s, primarily to facilitate irrigation and water supply. It is built on the Bhairavi River, a tributary of the Damodar River. Originally, the dam was designed to provide irrigation facilities to farmers across three blocks: Dulmi, Gola, and Chitarpur. Its total water storage capacity covers an area of ​​approximately 81 square miles, significantly benefiting the surrounding agricultural region.

In recent years, the Bhairavi reservoir has also been developed into a tourist destination. Its natural beauty, lush green hills, and serene atmosphere make it an appealing spot for family outings and picnics. The administration has also introduced fisheries at the site, creating employment opportunities for local residents. Future plans may incorporate adventure activities such as boating and the establishment of a boat club.

Reaching the Bhairavi Dam is relatively easy. It is located approximately 30 kilometers from Ramgarh town and about 60 kilometers from Ranchi. It is easily accessible by road via taxi, private vehicle, or bus. The journey offers travelers a chance to enjoy the natural beauty of the surrounding greenery and hilly landscapes. Parking and seating facilities are also available near the dam.

The Bhairavi Dam is not only valuable for agricultural irrigation and fisheries but is also emerging as a significant tourist destination in Jharkhand. In the coming years, the site holds the potential to become a major attraction for water sports, rural tourism, and photography.
